Real vs. Fake: How to Spot if Your Rose Quartz is Just Pink Glass
Share
Imagine pouring your heart out, setting intentions for self-love, and meditating daily... only to find out you've been holding a piece of dyed factory glass.
It’s a heartbreaking reality: Because Rose Quartz is the most popular love stone, it is also the most faked.
Why does it matter? Energy.
Natural crystals have a stable geometric lattice structure that stores and vibrates energy. Glass is "amorphous"—it has no structure. Energetically, glass is silent. It cannot help you heal.
At INMORVEN, we guarantee 100% natural stones. Here is how you can test your own collection using 3 simple rules.
Test #1: The Bubble Test (The Dead Giveaway)
This is the easiest way to spot a fake.
The Science: Natural quartz is formed underground over thousands of years. It does NOT contain round air bubbles. Glass, however, is melted and poured quickly, which traps tiny air pockets.
- How to check: Hold your crystal up to the light (or use a magnifying glass).
- The Verdict: If you see tiny, perfectly round bubbles inside, it is 100% Glass. Throw it away.
Test #2: The "Imperfect" Color Test
Nature is rarely uniform. If your crystal looks "too perfect," be suspicious.
- Fake (Glass/Dyed): The color is a bright, neon pink that looks exactly the same all over. It is perfectly transparent like a window pane.
- Real (Natural): The color is usually a soft, pale pink (sometimes almost white). It is rarely clear; it looks "milky" or cloudy. It often has white streaks, wispy lines, or internal cracks (called "inclusions").
Remember: Real Rose Quartz looks like a frozen pink cloud, not a pink lollipop.
Test #3: The Temperature Test
Crystals are excellent conductors of heat. Glass is an insulator.
- How to check: Place the stone against your cheek or hold it in your palm.
- Real: It should feel cold initially and take a while to warm up to your body temperature.
- Fake: Plastic or glass will feel room temperature or warm up very quickly in your hand.
A Note on "Aura" or "Strawberry" Quartz
Beware of fancy names.
- "Aura Rose Quartz": This is natural quartz that has been chemically bonded with metals to create a rainbow sheen. It is natural at the core, but treated.
- "Strawberry Quartz" (The Scam): Real Strawberry Quartz is rare and expensive. Most cheap "Strawberry Quartz" on the market is actually just glass with red glitter melted inside.
Summary: Trust Your Intuition
Natural crystals have a weight and a presence to them. If a stone feels "light," "plastic," or just doesn't vibe with you, trust that feeling.
Your heart deserves the real thing.
